Car diagnostics

October 12, 2020

You might wonder: “What’s wrong with my car” when you hear, feel, smell, or see symptoms that develop. Is the check engine light on? Is the check engine light always on, or is it intermittent? Is the check engine light flashing? Are there other warning lights on? Do you hear strange noises—clunking, creaking, clicking, squeaking, popping, grinding, or squealing? Do you feel strange feelings—vibrating, shaking, pulling, abnormalities when steering or breaking? Under what conditions do you feel any of these? Do you smell smoke, burning, exhaust, fuel, mold, or sulfur scents?

All cars are different. All symptoms are important to report to your mechanic in Rochester, MN. Be sure to notate when symptoms occur and under what conditions.

Diagnosing a vehicle is not always an easy task. Often motorists believe the mechanic simply hooks up expensive diagnostic equipment and the scan tool automatically reveals what is wrong with your car. This is not the case.

At Babcock Auto Care, we want to be sure we diagnose your car correctly. Our Service Advisor will communicate all of the symptoms you describe to our mechanic. He will then take your car for a test drive to assess the entire vehicle for himself. He will try to duplicate the symptom(s). Following this, our expert, Master Certified mechanic will hook up scan tools where indicated and use their knowledge as well as other testing to diagnose the cause of the problem. Our mechanics are among the best in diagnostic abilities!
